This website is developed and maintained independently to educate anyone interested in learning about the Indian Act of Canada, and Indian Act related knowledge and evidence. Craig Blacksmith is a Dakota Oyate Knowledge Keeper. Keshab Thapa maintains this website and organizes the information in consultation with Craig.
Having a dedicated website like this is Craig Blacksmith’s vision to fulfill the gap in public education regarding the Indian Act. Our aim is to discuss why abolishing the Indian Act is imperative to decolonizing Canadians and releasing the hold on the land and with it the control of the people. Presently, the Indian Act is hardly taught in Canadian Universities as Native researchers and scholars have less access to the decision making positions for designing university curricula.
Please support this initiative by signing the petition “Abolish the Indian Act, Stand Up for Human Rights,” sharing this petition, and circulating the knowledge products we have uploaded here from various sources.
